Already here. Already around me.

Make that 2! Love 'em, love 'em! I was finally able to buy an Anne Rice book, since my town seriously lacks them. The one I wanted wasn't in mint condition, priced just the same as a brand new one, so I was doubting at first, but finally gave in. And I still love it. :3
It's Saturday so I could sleep as late as I want to as well. Whee!

I'm only at the first chapter of Me Talk Pretty One Day and I'm already laughing my ass off.

I first read of Twilight from a book review site, then a niece recommended it. I've already heard and read people comparing it to Harry Potter, and that SMeyer is the next J.K. Rowling. So maybe, I had too high expectations already even before the movie came out. It took a while before I had the opportunity to actually start reading the Twilight series. I read them, because it seems everywhere I turn, the craze was ever-so-present, and I wanted an informed opinion on the books.

I liked Twilight, rolled my eyes reading New Moon, tolerated Eclipse and, for now, refuse to read Breaking Dawn. I have to admit, it is like the Harry Potter-verse where you just want to crawl in and live amongst the characters, but that's as far as comparisons go.

I am a fan of the story. I liked its cuteness and the hotness of the vampire (though I don't think I'd ever watched or read something vampire-related that I didn't find hot). I'm invested in some of the characters, especially the smexiness that is Jacob Black, but, sadly, I've read better fanfiction then the books themselves. 

The books make me want to hurl. There is a lot of potential, but not a lot of substance. The language is pretty basic. I easily read the first three books, and am not at all excited at Breaking Dawn, especially after reading spoilers. This is definitely not great literature, and not Harry Potter standards. It felt like a teen-y fantasy story about finding the "perfect guy" and I cannot help but sigh at the lack of execution from time to time. Or maybe I'm just getting old? *facepalms*

And Bella's narrating... with the angst. The angst. The angst. The whole three books was filled with them. I hated the first person view with the fiery passion of a thousand useless spermicides.

Maybe I should read Breaking Dawn. It might be better than anticipated, then I can salvage my burned admiration for the series (though only the first book earned a tug in my heart).

Or better yet, I could at least try to find some readable Twilight fanfiction, because there are some out there that are better than the books (which undoubtedly says something).

And, sparkly vampires?! Ugh. 'Nuff said.
